Don’t worry if you’re struggling with yoga poses. Creating a personal yoga journal that you love is a fun way to inspire yourself to practice more yoga and nail those “I’ll never get there” poses!

Much more than just a plain old diary, your yoga journal is a vehicle that helps you to gradually change your life for the better by tracking your yoga practice. This way, you can build better habits and make real progress. The beauty of it is that you have full freedom to do it your own way! With inspiration on layout ideas, tips and tricks from Instagram, your yoga-journaling possibilities are endless.

For example, let’s say that you’re ready to finally conquer Evolation’s 30-Day Yoga Challenge because you want to start feeling and looking as awesome as our friend Gillian Budd did afterward. Why not pick that pose you’ve always wanted to do well and make a plan in your yoga journal to get there in 30 days?

  1. Start the month by first observing what happens when you try to do padmasana now. Where do you feel uncomfortable first? Is it in your knees, hamstrings, hips or elsewhere? Ask your yoga teacher which poses are best to get flexibility in that area first. Write down in your journal how long you do these warm-up poses each day.
  2. Do three hip-opening poses every day and set a timer to encourage yourself to stay longer in each pose over time. Pigeon, baddha konasana and seated forward bend will help.
  3. Strengthen your knees with standing poses every time you practice.

You’ll get plenty of supportive inspiration for your daily yoga practice and yoga journal when you come to one of our classes. We offer a variety of yoga styles, such as power yoga, Vinyasa flow, Bikram yoga and the Barkan Method of Hatha Yoga, as well as restorative sessions. Check out our class schedule on the website to find the time that works best for your practice.
