Thoughtful hands-on assists can transform a student’s experience by enhancing awareness, creating stability, improving alignment, and offering a deeper sense of connection.
This workshop is designed for yoga teachers who want to develop confidence, sensitivity, and clarity in offering hands-on adjustments. We will explore how to use touch with intention, always respecting each student’s comfort, boundaries, and unique body.
During this experiential workshop, you will learn:
- The principles of safe, effective, and ethical hands-on assists.
- How to ask for and respect student consent.
- Body mechanics that protect both the teacher and the student.
- When to assist—and when not to.
- Techniques to enhance stability, balance, breath, and alignment.
- Hands-on adjustments for common standing, seated, balancing, and restorative postures.
- How to adapt assists for different body types, abilities, and levels of experience.
You’ll spend most of the workshop practicing with fellow teachers, giving and receiving feedback, and refining your touch through guided exercises. By the end of the session, you’ll leave with practical skills, increased confidence, and a deeper understanding of how mindful touch can support your students’ practice while honoring their autonomy and individual needs.
Whether you’re a new teacher or an experienced instructor looking to refine your assisting skills, this workshop will provide practical techniques that you can immediately incorporate into your classes.
